BMW RACE FAIRINGS & BODYWORK
BMW race fairings are primarily designed for the high-performance S 1000 RR and M 1000 RR Superbike platforms. These specialized kits are essential for weight reduction, superior high-speed aerodynamics, and track safety compliance. Available in performance composites—chiefly Fiberglass (GRP/FRP) reinforced with Kevlar-Carbon (K-K), and pure Carbon Fibre (CFRP)—they are engineered to simplify maintenance and maximize performance across national and international racing series.

S 1000 RR & M 1000 RR - Superbike Performance
BMW's race bodywork focuses on adapting the high-power Superbikes for the specific demands of the track, including accommodating race exhausts, removing road lighting, and meeting FIM/ACU/etc., safety regulations.
1. Material Comparison for BMW Race Use:
| Material Type | Core Advantage | Application in BMW Racing |
| GRP (Fiberglass) / Polyester | Best Price/Quality Ratio & Easy Repair. | The standard choice for track days and club racing. Highly lightweight compared to OEM plastic, easy to repair, and offers good elasticity to minimize damage from low-sides. |
| Kevlar-Carbon (K-K) | Targeted Durability and Safety. | Manufacturers often reinforce crucial areas like the sealed lower fairing (belly pan) and mounting points with Kevlar-Carbon to prevent puncture/tearing, ensuring fluids are contained as required by safety rules. |
| CFRP (Full Carbon Fibre) | Maximum Mass Reduction. | Used by top-tier teams (e.g., World Superbike) and discerning riders for its extreme lightness, high stiffness, and superior finish. This is the top-level option for shaving every possible gram. |
| Epotex (Extreme Components) | Advanced Resin/Fiberglass Blend. | A proprietary composite that aims to be lighter and more elastic than standard GRP, offering a premium performance fiberglass alternative. |
2. Essential Race Fairing Components & Features:
BMW race fairings simplify the bike for rapid adjustments and enhanced performance.
-
Sealed Lower Fairing (Belly Pan): This is mandatory for all track use. The design must be completely sealed to retain oil, coolant, or fuel in the event of an engine failure or crash. It is custom-molded to accommodate the large volumes of aftermarket racing exhaust systems.
-
Aerodynamic Simplification: The upper fairing replaces the asymmetric (pre-2019) or symmetric (2019+) headlight assemblies with a smooth, lightweight race nose cone. This reduces weight high on the chassis and minimizes drag.
-
M 1000 RR Winglets: For newer models (M1000RR and later S1000RR generations), race fairings must be designed to either integrate or accept the OEM or aftermarket aerodynamic winglets for high-speed stability.
-
Tail Unit: Replaces the heavy road tail with a lightweight, minimalist shell that often includes a self-supporting structure and a high-grip foam seat pad for rider stability.
The fairings are designed for use with quick-release fasteners to simplify on-track assembly and disassembly. However, drilling and the quick-release fasteners themselves are not included in the kit and must be ordered separately.
